Jonny Heynes

Growing up emersed in the world of motorsport, I inherited a legacy steeped in racing history. My father, a distinguished member of the BRDC, instilled in me a love for speed and precision, as he travelled the World racing, and winning, with his McRae F5000 team.

As a teenager, I carved my own path on the track, racing super karts with success in the British Championships. Wanting a new challenge, I decided to move from driver to manager, founding my first team HTML in 2000.

In 2001, our fledgling team defied the odds, clinching the drivers' championship in Class B of the BTCC - a testament to our unwavering dedication and determination. The years that followed saw us sponsored by the owners of Rockingham speedway and with the responsibility of guiding talents like Le Mans 24 hour Winner Darren Turner and ex-F1 driver Max Papis as we embarked on a successful and unforgettable journey in the ASCAR championship.

In 2007, I assumed the role of Team Manager at SEAT Sport UK, orchestrating a campaign that culminated in the triumph of Darren Turner and Jason Plato in the BTCC, securing both teams' and constructors' championship titles.

Partnering with me is Mike Edmonds, a luminary in motorsport engineering who spearheads Mtech, a team renowned for its expertise in single-seater and GT racing. With our combined experience of over 30 years in the sport, our collaboration embodies a shared ambition - to cultivate young talent in motorsport, to pave the way for their success on and off the track.

Mike Edmonds

Mike’s passion for racing began at the early age of 3, hooked by the adrenalin of his motorcycle. He continued racing motorcycles into his mid 20’s developing into a passion for motorsport engineering,

Mike’s conversion to car racing came in 1998 when Mike & his boss entered into the Westfield Championship, successfully engineering and racing his own cars to his first championship victory.

In 1999, Mike moved into engineering consultancy and driver coaching, realising his childhood dream by working for Ferrari until 2006. From the relationships he formed at Ferrari, Mike’s engineering company MTECH was born.

MTECH started racing three Ferrari 360’s and quickly progressed from club racing to British GT, then Blancpain endurance. They raced across Europe in all the major GT championships including FIA GT3 with backing from the Ferrari factory enjoying great success.

In 2009 Lamborghini invited MTech to join their new one make series, Super Trofeo in which they ran as Lamborghini’s factory racing team from the UK across the world - a great honour for the team.  MTech then purchased a Formula Renault team running four cars in the UK and had success with a number of different drivers.

MTech Lite continues running these cars as an experience day company alongside his other motorsport commitments and burgeoning supercar servicing garage.

Now in 2024 Mike looks forward to bringing his wealth of expertise to Storm Motorsport as team manager and head of engineering for their new step into F4 and and GT racing.
